The Bea has a weight to it that photographs smaller than it wears. On the ear it holds light in a way that makes people look twice without working out why. It comes back less often than almost anything else idyl sells, which is the quietest compliment a piece can get.
Two diamonds of different cuts, a pear beside an emerald, set so close they appear to float next to one another. Matching two shapes this precisely is the hardest thing a setter does, because any gap between them shows. Named for two people who should not work together and do.
The Paris is the one people describe as their good earrings. Substantial enough to carry an evening, restrained enough to wear through a Tuesday, and the piece most often bought as a gift to oneself.
An oval held at the centre, framed by marquise cuts on the slant and pears at the edge. Five stones, five different angles, balanced by eye rather than by template. The result looks effortless, which is the whole difficulty.
Five marquise diamonds curved into a crescent at the throat, graduating in size so the eye travels along them. Each stone sits at a slightly different angle, which is what gives the curve its movement. It was made to be worn with the Bea.
A marquise, an emerald and a pear, set on a soft slant that leans quietly seventies. Three cuts that have no business sitting together, made to look inevitable. Fewer than twenty remain across all three golds.
Three ovals suspended on fine gold chains, hung so they move independently as you do. Chains that fine are the least forgiving thing in the workshop, which is why this one is only ever made in small numbers.
Three pear cuts set along a clean line, made to layer with whatever you already wear. The simplicity is the difficulty. With nothing to hide behind, every setting has to be exact.
Ten diamonds set one after another along a single band of gold, each placed by hand so the line never breaks. It is the most demanding piece in the atelier and the slowest to finish. Only a handful of each cut are left.
